Last week saw the switch on of East Ham’s Christmas lights – and this week, it was Stratford’s turn to get festive.
In what can only be described as a festive extravaganza, lantern parades, carolling and a giant inflatable snow globe featured in the celebrations in Stratford Broadway.
The yard of St John’s Church played host to Santa’s Grotto, elves, a juggling Jack Frost and candyfloss, popcorn and hot chocolate stalls.
The celebrations started with a lantern parade from Stratford Library. Pupils from nearby schools had spent lessons making the lanterns, which they displayed down the street to the music of East London’s Drum Works.
Further entertainment came in the form of a series of traditional carols from local choirs and a face painting stall.
